For the seventh year we have the pleasure of awarding the Arthur Svensson international prize for union rights in Oslo congress centre.
LabourStart is the winners of this years prize for their unique method of organizing union rights. Editor Eric Lee will be in Oslo to receive the prize on behalf of LabourStart.
Multiple LabourStart campaigns has been directed at union rights in the middle east. Three union leaders from different countries will be with us to share experiences from their stuggles for labour rights.
Abu Mahdi Deeis the leader of the teachers union i Bahrain and won last years Svensson award. He is recently released from prison, were he was held as a prioner of concience, and will attend the seminar to share with us his thoughts on union rights in Bahrain.
Nermen Al Sharif is a union leader from Libya and fights for womens rights in all of The Arab world. She has fought for the right of female employees in Qatar Airways and is the president of the Libyan dockers union. She will be present to share testemonials from her struggle with us.
We will also enjoy the visit of Kamal Abbas from Egypt. He is the leader of the independent unions in Egypt and will be present to share the experiences from the current situation for union members in the Country.
All of the above have cooperated with LabourStart during the last years.
The event will take place in oslo Congress centre on June the 15th from 10 am to 1:30 pm. Participation is open for all, free of charge and a lunch buffett will be served.
